I tried to connect one of our Ranger 3 units this morning to my Hiper Lite units with a serial cable. The bluetooth is not working on this Hiper Lite.

When I went in to create the receiver profile, I told the ranger to connect using the serial cable, and it could not open Com port 1. I did a hard reset, without any luck.

Any ideas?

I was able to leave my personal data collector out there for the guys to use, and it is very rare for them to be using my personal gear, but we were in a pinch this morning. I have not seen this error message before.

Thanks in advance,
Jimmy

We think we figured it out. In the settings menu, there is a screen with an option for data out. The data out option was checked, and that seems to have "locked" the com port. We unchecked the box, set an instrument up on the table, and the data collector was able to communicate with the instrument. Before it would not communicate with anything, the Hiper or of total station.
