That's a really narrow section. Does it fit record? They at least gave enough geometry to lay it out. I'm guessing the found info isn't matching up very well.
That is a weird orientation. I need to turn my computer mostly upside down.
I noticed the narrow Section 7 too, a closing section.
Dave and MM- I'm responding to both of you here.
The section is a very narrow closing section. This area is in the Hellgate canyon near Missoula. If you work the math on the first one, you can see it doesn't even work out on paper, & it's uglier on the ground. Both stones are still in and measure within 10' of GLO record- although the NW corner is mis-oriented 180^ ( most other subsequent record say marked per GLO) and about 8 feet off from the hwy distance and the corner is about 30 feet north of where is should be per highway plans.
I found a set of BPA pwr line plans (1950+/-) that had NAD SPC coords for both corners. I convert them using Corpscon6- and the NW corner is within a foot while the NE corner is out by about 15 feet.
The 1320 club (private) was there in 1948- no monument there but a rr tie fx corner that the landowner says is set based on that survey. Within 2 ft of this corner is a 4x4 conc rw marker supposedly at the 16th corner based the hwy rw plans and deeds which were prepared by the MDOH 1320 club. This is position is about 16 feet south of the line between the section corners.
