One of my units stopped recording static data. I ALWAYS "restore to factory defaults" before running a static session.
I did check the memory, which appeared adequate, but there were a lot of files. It isn't easy to delete job files from the receivers but I did delete a bunch. That still didn't work; The time on station lights never lit up!
So I tried the "delete all files" option and the next time I used the "time on station" lights lit up as expected, but the data was not recorded with the right file names, i.e. not julian dates, or at least not correct Julian dates, and the files were broken into quarters, that is, I had 2 1/2 hours on site per setup and ended up with 8 files instead of two, and the headings are wrong.
I wonder; 1) What files do I need to upload to my receivers, and how, or; 2) Where do I send it for a tune up?
thanks,
Dtp
We have 2 GSR2700IS units that, at some time this summer, started to name files with incorrect day of the year. Yesterday a file name was 00360800.pdc, it should have been 00363080.pdc. When I load this file into Sokkia Spectrum Survey for processing the start date and time are correct, some times the end date is incorrect, shows 1994, but the end time is correct. The files process fine with others that have the correct day of the year, it seems that it is just a file name issue. I believe that this change may have corresponded with a turn over of the GPS calendar. I asked my Sokkia dealer about firmware updates and he advised to check with Novatel in Canada to see if updates are available. I have not had time to check for updates yet. This is also happening with our older Sokkia Radian IS units. We have not have the files splitting up like you describe.

This was my last feedback from Sokkia on the subject, back in 2012, so it might not be accurate now,
We Topcon/Sokkia have not had any contact with Novatel regarding any of their new firmware updates. The last one that was officially tested was 3.701, I've used 3.901 and have seen that it works but beyond that I cannot guarantee that it will work without any glitches.
I'm still using 3.701 and it works ok.
If you can find 'Sokkia Planning' v4.21 and download it, it's useful for setting up and loading receiver configurations, also for deleting files and formatting the memory card (it's also got a handy pdc to Rinex file converter).
One test you could try is to configure the base as rover and the rover as the base, or try static logging with both receivers to identify whether it's only one that's corrupted or the firmware on both is out of date.
Might be worth reloading 3.701, or whatever version you're using.

Thanks for your response, and yours too, Ken. I was using both receivers and the "base" recorded just fine.

Our old units are some of those.
Regarding deleting files, all we do is turn the unit on then hold down the power button till it says "delete files" then release.
Either that or plug it in and delete from th computer. I'm not sure why you think it isn't easy to remove files.
This is the Novatel support page for the receivers (ie the boards inside the Sokkia units):
http://www.novatel.com/support/info/documents/580
The latest firmware version is 3.906
According to a news release, support will last until Dec 15 2016.

What I did was hold the button to "delete all files", previously when I was deleting files through the computer it only allowed me to delete one file at a time and each one took at least a minute to process, and there were hundreds of files.
That's what I found "not easy."

Thanks for the link! I'll be checking that out as soon as I can find a minute!

First of all, you don't need to reset the receiver every time you want to record static data. If the memory is full you can erase all the files by pressing for 20sec (if i remember correctly, check the manual) the power button until you hear the audible message. This of course without any connection to the PC.
As for the firmware upgrade, I am on 3.701 but will upgrade soon to 3.906. I got the appropriate cable from ebay and sent a request for authorization code to Novatel.
They want you to send them the LOG VERSION command (copy paste form hyperterminal app) and they respond immediately with the auth code.
I will send feedback to anyone interested.

Well I loaded the 3.906 to the GSR2700ISX and no issues so far. It seems faster at initial fix. These comments are for the network rover with internal GSM.
For the base-rover systems I cannot tell.
I am using both of Sokkia GSR2700 Isx, and now I don' t know why they are stop working even turn off the receiver.

you need to contact your local dealer for a firmware upgrade and they will work again.
Hello Pat, hope all is well. I have updated with the current 3.907 firmware but am having issues with setting up the base-rover uhf setup. Using SurvCe 4.07.
My take is I need to reconfigure the base-rover setup with Sokkia Planning 4.21 or their Powerup tool. I downloaded both from Sokkia but they require a password for unzipping. I requested this from their Contact page.
Do you know how to get this and if I can get these things working again with the uhf setup?

As I mentioned in the other thread you'd be better to go to the software informer site and download Sokkia Planning from there. I've done this a few times, no problems with malware etc, I've even got Planning, which is as old as the hills, running on a Win 10, 64 bit computer. Like you I requested a password for the Sokkia site downloads, never received a reply.
In Planning you'll find powerup named as 'configurations'. Remember to set up base and rover to transmit and receive RTCMv3 format, I believe this is necessary to get the benefit of the Glonass satellites.
AAAhhhh, that's how you did it. Thanks Artie, found that site and managed to get the correct version with no password requests. Did take some time to find the correct box to click. I actually did get a reply from the sokkia tech asking which country I was from and that he would try to help.
I lost contact with Pat and so tried this thread. He was always very helpful with Sokkia related questions.
Now I can try the powerup configurations.
John
Got the power up configurations to load properly and I spent 3 hours trying different combinations with no luck. I loaded an old version of the GSR Configuration utility onto our Carlson Surveyor + and it reported a non functioning radio in the rover unit. It has taken a lot of abuse over the years and apparently did something to the radio. Any one have luck in getting that repaired?

The current firmware for the ISX is 3.907. This is an easy update if you have the SERIAL Cable- the USB cable will not work for the firmware update- I did a Maine customer's units in 15 minutes the other day. It's an easy fix. There is also a rebate program on these if you wish to update to a current model GRX2.
What are the details of the rebate program?
