Ok,this is a little of topic but I wanted to get a bit of advice,I currently am using trimble 5800 to survey (so ofcourse I have no glonass) do any of you think it would be a step in the right direction to get rid of my 5800s to buy a used set of these?ÿSokkia GSR 2700 ISX? they are about the only affordable glonass solution for me.
Luke, I'd say that would be a gamble where you would have to be prepared to lose one or both permanently at any time. The risks would be failure of ageing batteries, replacements are available on ebay but who knows what state they are in if they've been on the shelf for a while + they are expensive. There's no official support now and probably no spare parts available other than cannibalising an old receiver. The firmware is really on borrowed time now and some minor change could turn these receivers into paperweights overnight. I've seen a few on ebay at what I thought were pretty high prices given the firmware, batteries and repair/support situation.
