Does anyone know if you need to have the radio antenna connected when you're running on a network and not using an on-site base?
Thanks
I was told to have it on. Not 100% sure why not actually being used when connected to a network.
I was told to leave it on because it can damage the unit if it is powered up with out it. That and why take it off easier to lose that way.
When your running on a network you do not need it your not doing anything with you radio is your on the network
If there is any chance the radio will try to transmit, it is best to leave the antenna on. Otherwise, it would be trying to push XX watts into an open circuit and that could lead to overheating or excess voltage in the circuitry.

I agree with Bill...
Unless there is a way to "UNPLUG" the power to the internal radio, I would keep an antenna attached just to be on the safe side.
Why take a chance on frying something?
