I loaded Survey 4.0 into Windows 7 and it works. I also had to connect to an LPT port to have printer capabilities. The drawback is, that the screen display is not the full size of the monitor and is hard to read, and in the programs tab where you set the screen size, this doesn't seem to be a changable function. Generic Cadd 6.1 says it loaded sucessfully, but will not do anything. I get a message that a full screen is not supported. I think that these issues may be related to the video card being more than these programs can handle.

My Win 7 is a 32 bit system though.

Yes.

I haven't had any luck getting a first generation TDS Ranger to communicate with my Windows 7 64bit computer at work. I still have a Windows XP laptop which I use to download the Ranger (which I usually do in the hotel room anyway).

The Topcon Hipers can download to the Windows 7 computer, PC-CDU works, etc. Everything else works.

Permissions in Windows 7 are overly complicated is the main problem with it but everything seems to work fine.

I also use PC-CDU in Windows 7.

You need the Windows 7 drivers from Topcon in order to download Hipers via USB.

There is a new version of Activesync for Win7 called "Windows Mobile Device Center". Have you tried that?

> ... I assume C3D 2012 is good.

I can assure you from personal experience that LDT2009/C3d2009 and later works fine on Win7 64x. Most things not too old (made for WinXP) will work if loaded using the compatability mode. It's when you get into stuff written for DOS or Win95 (Win98, 2000, Millenium, etc. were repackagings of Win95) when you have problems.

When Win Vista first came out there was a dearth of compatible device drivers. If you are trying to run some decade old printer or something in Win7 you may have problems but for anything made post WinVista (2006) you should be fine.

Did someone mention TRIMMAP? Free for the shipping charges!

@bianca.cad - To the best of my knowledge, the TRIMMAP manuals were never provided as PDFs - they were printed only.

Minor thread hijack -

Due to a personality flaw that makes it difficult for me to dispose of anything that may be even marginally useful to anyone, I just happen to have a full set of all kinds of TRIMMAP stuff as shown in the image:

Specifically -

TRIMMAP Ver 6.50 with activated hardware lock and full set of manuals
TrimVolume
TrimLAN
TrimDigitize
TrimCalc
TrimMOSS
TrimProfile
TrimContour
TrimSeismic

This is a special package Trimble offered to dealers back in the day, I suppose so the dealer would have on hand for demonstration the various arcane modules just in case someone had interest.

I used the sticky notes you see on the diskettes to keep track of where the activations were installed, and to the best of my knowledge all activations are in the hardware lock shown and included in the package.

This whole package is available on an all-or-nothing basis for cost of shipping to your address; if you pay me by PayPal the amount will reflect the PayPal fees (2.9% + US$0.30) so the net to me is the actual shipping amount.

Everything shown here weighs just under 15 pounds. If the recipient desires, I can remove the boxes to reduce shipping charges a little.

Since bianca.cad brought up TRIMMAP, she has first option. If she does not take advantage of this offer by 1700 hrs SurveyorConnect/BeerLeg time on Friday 06 June 2014, it is available to any of the 7 billion residents of Planet Earth. Contact me by the e-mail hyperlink to the right of my name.
