I'm not going to name the company because, though this is the second time this has happened to me, I still believe they are a good company.

This is the second TS I've bought off of them within a couple years and the first time I ordered a 3" gun and they sent me a 5" gun. I had to send back the wrong gun and they mailed me the right gun but to an address, I hadn't lived since 2011. The current occupant called me and I had to go there and pick it up.

I just got my new gun a few minutes ago and sure enough, I look at the invoice. They sent me a 5" gun AGAIN! I double checked in the info selection in the gun and yep, 5"

The person I talked to even specifically asked me when I ordered it if I wanted the 3" gun like I got last time.

It's just like last time. I should have been more clear that I wanted the 3" gun on the first try not the second try like last time. 🙂

Now I have to mail this?ÿ

At what point do you just accept the upgrade (assuming it is) and just run with it? ??ÿ

I have had that to happen with a certain well known company also.

Had a gun sent in for repair and they sent it back without the optical plumb, it had been capped off. I sent back the rental and kept their optical plumb and installed in in mine. They were very unhappy until I told them if they wanted to swap out optical plumb to come to me and do it because I'm not gonna sent it across the country again, already been two round trips and for them or elsee they can keep my optical plumb and install in their gun. They never did respond and it all stayed as it was.

Next time I sent an instrument for them to repair it came back and my tribrach was missing and the unit would not power up. Sent it back and when it was returned it came with my tribrach and would power up and now they had not put the dust covers of the eyepiece on the instrument. They sent them afterwards and I installed them myself. They never did return the manual and accessories that were in the original case.

They do very good work and everything they have worked on that I know of in the last 40+ years was excellent work. Somehow, things get out their door without everything that was there when it entered their door.

The 3" is more money and what I ordered and want. Last time they charged me the higher price and sent me the cheaper gun. This time they charged me for the gun they sent me even though I told them I wanted the more expensive gun. The difference is about $600 and though 2" added accuracy may never be anything I notice but there could be a time where I need it. Rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Trimble, Topcon, and Leica all have repair facilities that are local to me. So at one time or another I've been in each work shop and met the techs personally. One thing they all insist on is that when you turn in a gun for service you keep all the accessories out, including the tribrach if it is detachable.?ÿ No cords or cables, no tool kits, no batteries, no manuals, no bag of silicone beads.?ÿ ?ÿ

John - I would not work with that dealer any longer unless and until I got a personal visit from the HMFIC to deliver mea culpas in the form of cash money (or at least serious discounts on future service). They aren't paying attention to you or their work. You don't need that. You deserve better.?ÿ
