He was exceeding his authority until the Cadastral Engineer signed the Plat I would think.

Don,

I doubt that a draftsman has any authority, yet how many times does the plat control your decisions on subdividing the section? And of course the plat was created by the draftsman!

Back in those days we were working under the 47 Manual and it referred to cadastral engineers, but he did not sign the plat,only the notes.

Draftsman

That might be true, but the BLM Approving Official should have been looking at what he was approving! Can't blame it on the draftsman. Got to be a quality control process in there between the draftsman and approval.

Both the image overlays and the vector geometry provided by the Section Geocoder represent current data obtained in real time directly from the BLM. I do not maintain a local database.

I also recommend the desktop tool, PLSGE, for a more fully-featured coverage of the PLSS.
