Hi! I bought SDR33 Expert 4MB late last year. When I tried using it just this week for topographic survey, I noticed that backsight residual message is always to the tune of more than 5 min. Did I miss something? Thank you guys...

That doesn't sound too good to me. The routine I assume that you're following is that you're in topographic survey mode, set up on a known point. You point on some backsight station to orient the total station and then proceed to measure angles and distances to various things, but after a while you point back at the backsight station, plugging in the point i.d. that you assigned to it. The DC mentions the fact that the direction to that station is now about 0°05' different in horizontal angle? Something is seduced.

If it's a vertical residual, you may just not be updating the Target Height from whatever you were using for your last shot before checking the BS.

Is the error vertical or horizontal? I still use an SDR33 for everything, like Kent said most of the time I get a large V error it is due to not editing the Target Height. If you don't change the height it will use whatever the last HR you had. If its H are you actually seeing the same error on the instrument or is it just when it is recorded in the DC?
