Hi, a colleague of mine has SCS900 2.71 on a TSC2 controller and like me is not familiar with it, only survey controller/access.
Can SCS900 stake from a GENIO file? I couldn't see much mention of roads or alignments from the brief look at the menus.
Thanks

I don't know anything about a genio file but you have to set up a work order in order to do anything in scs900. Seems really convoluted if you are used to sc or access. Trimble's decision to separate surveying and construction has caused enough problems that now they are allowing both softwares on the same controller.

They did the same thing by dumping Terramodel and putting out TBC. It does a lot of stuff, but if you are a land surveyor you're probably going to want something else.

SCS900 is awesome.

I doubt there is anything it can't do.

If you can convert the file to DXF, or a point list to CSV, you are good to go.

I am not sure about GENIO but yesy you can stake an alignment with SCS. You either put in a .pro, or an .xml and it converts it to a .pro

you can handjam an alignment also in the software itself:

Main menu
5.volume&cogo
5. create /edit road data

Im current on v2.92 but I am pretty sure 2.71 was the same.

The HHC version of TBC appears to have an option to convert a GENIO file to a Trimble alignment.

I'm sure it will do about anything, but so would SC. And without nearly as many hoops to jump through. As our salesman keeps telling me, it's designed so the guy in the office makes most of the decisions about what and how the staking is done, and about anybody can then use it out in the field.

Thanks, the GENIO is a pretty standard interchange format here. It's the Bentley MX (MOSS) format for interchange. It's generally what the designers are prepared to give you as controlled issue to site.
Survey Controller / Access (with Roads module) will read it directly which is a great help. There's more info in it than a CSV or DXF as it contains chainage, radiuses, transitions etc;
Would ideally like to avoid using TBC but I have feeling that is the answer.
I have also heard mention of the roads module for SCS900? There really isn't much info on it over here. Will take it up with the dealer but chances are they don't know much more about than we do!

Is the PRO fike the standard alignment format for SCS900? I'm not familiar with it. I think it's RXL on survey controller.

There is a separate road module. Once you get a road in there you can make it pretty much work like roading in survey controller. Getting stuff in there in the right work order/site/ design/calibration is the trick.

is that PC software? I haven't come across it. Should we have it or is it built into TBC HCE? I'm looking at TBC HCE now to see if it can achieve what we need easily.
