my 20+ year old Schonsie 52 took a spill yesterday

It just screams - Looked around inside, nothing obvious
The top is very loose (has been a for a long while)

I need to have it fixed - any suggestions?

Send it back to the factory. I've been mostly pleased with their service.

All repair estimates are completed the same day your unit is received at Schonstedt. Our experienced technician will diagnose the problem at no extra charge & perform the repair only approved by you. While repair estimates are free, our base repair charges for non-warranty repairs are as follows:

•GA-52Cx & GA-72Cd = $290

•GA-92’s = $309

•MAC-51Bx = $340

•MAC-51B = $400

•Older GA Units (22, 32, 52, 52B, 52C, 72Cv) = $320

We just sent one in for repair and they said it wasn't repairable. They gave us $100 toward trade-in value. It was pretty old and we got a new one for $100 off

I've received great service here for many different support tools:

Send it back to the factory. I just sent one in. The repair quote had just about everything being replaced, except the main boards inside, although some components were replaced. It came back looking and working like a brand new locator. 1/3 the cost of purchasing a new one.

We had a CST locator that would do that when the batteries were almost dead.
