Preface this with the fact that it's realtor.

voicemail

"Hi, your guys did a survey for me a few years ago. I'd like to get a copy. It was in Creektown and is called Pine something Sub."

Look up the guy and he's not a client. Look up the sub with Pine in the name and there is none in Creektown. Look up where he lives and he lives in Creektown in DeerAntler Sub. We surveyed that Sub about 15 years ago but not for him.

Frustrated now call him. He says the survey must have been for the previous owner. Looked that up and nope.

Crew chief comes in, says about a dozen years ago when he was up there the previous owner stopped him and said the neighbor pulled the corners. So he stopped by, found the pins and set the plastic stakes back up. Never started a job or anything.

Told the realtor to pick up a copy of the plat, he seemed miffed and wanted the "new survey."

Jeesh!!!!!

Tell that realtor that he might stop at home depot. They have a good selection of large hammers, and bags of sand, pre washed, for kids sand boxes. Tell him 3 bags and a 10 lb hammer seems about right.

I keep a case of these:

Why was your crew chief doing work for somebody not a client, with your company name in some prominent fashion?

@norman-oklahoma?ÿ

He did the right thing. That area is rife with disputes, not starting a job there was correct.?ÿ

?ÿdoing work for somebody not a client,

As I read it, the owner at the time was a client, but the present owner is not.

@bill93?ÿ

No, we did a subdivision for Smith, Jones bought a lot and saw us working across the street, he told the crew chief that his neighbor pulled two of our stakes, the crew chief walks across the street and picks up the plastic stakes lying next to the corners and stands them up.?ÿ

Jones sells to realtor and realtor wants a copy of the new "survey".

And yes the pins were in the original location.

Realtors, for the most part, are scum. They will pull in thousands to tens of thousands (if not more) on a real estate deal, yet expect every plumber, electrician, painter, surveyor, title person, etc., to slash their own throat to get the deal done. ??? ???ª?ÿ

@hi-staker?ÿ

That comes from the "No closing, no pay." system used in the real estate world.?ÿ They can put in 200 hours of work on a specific property and end up with zero pay for their efforts.?ÿ This is why the ethics of surveying require we get paid for our work whether or not a certain other thing happens.?ÿ Otherwise, we would be just as cutthroat and prone to not "find" any issues with a property.
