I have a question we have Sokkia total stations and have always used Sokkia reflective targets. I was going to order more but noticed that there were ones from Leica "China" on Ebay quite a bit cheaper. Has anyone had any experience with these as far as durability or any other weird quirks. It looks like a different reflective backing I do not see how that would make a difference any input would be appreciated especially from Sokkia Topcon users.
Thanks
Go to local machine shop, and have them make you out of plastic a 6" square plastic card, attached to a machined plastic blob, with 5/8"x 11 threads on the bottom.
Get DOT reflective tape, and make your own. It works good in the woods, and it can be shot while the pole is 0.2' off line. It is the cats meaow!!!

Reflexite tape is excellent & commonly used for DOTD signs throughout the U.S. Scotch make a competitive product also with tiny retroreflectors.
Stay away from the Scotchlite bicycle tape made with tiny glass spheres - poor results.
The Sokkia guns work well off most of reflective tapes, if you are using a Sokkia Robot it will only lock onto the Sokkia targets. Brand x targets all work pretty well as long as they are not in what looks like a large diamond pattern.
Thanks Cliff,
Thanks Cliff,
I ordered a 5 yard roll of Reflexite and did some limited testing (10 angles and distances) from approximately perpendicular to approximately 30 degrees and found no difference between the Reflexite and Sokkia targets. PSCS I am wondering what issue you were having with the diamond pattern these targets have a base to base stacked triangle pattern and I have seen no difference. For those interested I got this on findtape.com (Reflexite REF-DB Retroreflective V92 Daybright Tape (2 in. x 5 yds. **5-yard *50mm wide/Silver-White)) $26 for a 5 yard roll.
