Hello, I'm getting acclimated to a new R8-3 head.?ÿ I'm trying to add some radio frequencies but it won't let me.?ÿ I suspect that is because it is "full."?ÿ There are currently 20 frequencies showing.?ÿ I'm doing this through Trimble Access.?ÿ I can't figure out how to delete frequencies.?ÿ Here are my questions:
1.?ÿ Is there a way to delete radio frequencies on a R8 Model 3 when connected to it with Trimble Access thru Bluetooth?
2.?ÿ Failing that, what is my next best option??ÿ Winflash??ÿ That means I'd have to go dig up a DB-9 to USB cable and hope like heck it works.
3.?ÿ Is it possible to interface with the R8 from a PC using Bluetooth?
Thank you in advance.?ÿ If this is not the best forum for these questions I apologize for that.
I have to send my receivers in to the vendor to change the radio frequencies. Also you need an FCC license if you happen to be in the U.S. to use the frequencies. Although the R8-3 probably isn't broadcasting at a frequency where it's necessary, my R8-2 is 1/2 watt.?ÿ
Isn't 20 enough? Or are you trying to match another receiver that has different frequencies?
Unfortunately, the best way to add bulk frequencies is going to be Winflash. Access does not let you delete frequencies if I remember correctly.
I am 99% sure that Winflash requires a cabled connection and will not operate over Bluetooth.

It's been years since I've messed with that but I also am pretty sure that it's going to be Winflash using a serial connection. Your dealer may have to build the file; I know that you have to have the dealer software to add or remove transmit frequencies. Not sure about receive only frequencies.
You only need to send it to the dealer if you are changing transmit frequencies - rover receive frequencies can be set by anyone.
We used to get receivers from other offices across the states, and have to clean them out on arrival because we had different frequencies for different offices.
The receive frequencies can be changed by the user using Winflash.
To change the transmit frequencies does require the dealer version of Winflash to generate a frequency file, but it is easy for the dealer to send that frequency file to the user by email attachment.?ÿ The user can then install the new frequency file using their Winflash.?ÿ There is no need for the receiver to be in the actual possession of the dealer to simply change the transmit frequencies.

And in the USA, a frequency is required to be licensed for transmitting, regardless of power output, yes even 0.5W.

I thought the 900 MHz spread spectrum did not require a license as long as it was under 1W, at least in the US?
@rover83 correct, the 900 MHz spread spectrum is different, I guess I should of made that distinction to refer to typical UHF frequencies in the 400 MHz area of the spectrum.
