Anyone running a ProMark3 RTK in Network: Rover Only? I am curious to hear about initialization times on a VRS Network, specifically WISCORS in Wisconsin.

Thanks in advance,

Matt

My experience with initialization times is this: 5 seconds to never.

5 seconds was when I was around a 1/2 mile from one of the network stations.
Never happens when you have fewer than 7 sats and/or you are exceeding the
L1 12Km limits to nearest station. Even though you are receiving network
corrections it seems you need to keep in mind how far you are from the
nearest station.

With a decent number of satellites and good geometry it usually takes
several minutes for a fixed position, as long as you do not exceed about
6 miles from the nearest station. This is within the Oregon RTN. I imagine
results would be similar in Wisconsin. I remember a couple or few years ago
speaking with a surveyor from Wisconsin regarding the PM3/RTN. I think
it was Reggie Jacquish(sp?)but I could be mis-remembering.

I used the PM3 RTK in a real-time network (Leica Spidernet) for GIS type asset, but not a Trimble VRS.

Since a VRS computes a position close by (less than 100' I believe) you should technically never be more than 1km from your "reference station". If this is the case your TTFF should be improved when compared to a non-VRS type RTN. Maintaining the lock may be tricky, but it should reinitialize fairly quickly if that scenario holds true. It would be worth several tests to see if that is the case.
