My computer stopped recognizing my base when I hook it up using the usb cable. No problem with it recognizing the rover, and the PCCDU software works with the rover, so I don't think it is a driver or cable issue. I tried it both on my desktop and laptop. I did a reset on the base, and that did not help. Anybody have any ideas?

We had a set of the regular Hipers for about 10 years. I seem to recall that we had problems with almost all of the ports at one time or another. I would guess its a bad port. Do you use this as an RTK setup? If you do, hook up a data collector to that port and see if it works.

I had a port go bad, also, had it replaced.
My other com and usb port worked, though.

Just two weeks ago, I thought that I had 'fried' my Hiper Lites by plugging the charger into the USB port. I could not get the units to give me any fixes, although I could talk to them via the dc by blue tooth. Could not communicate via USB to either one. I was so convinced that I sent them off to my dealer to check out.

He connected to them via the serial port, confirmed the USB ports were bad and said it wouldn't be economical to fix them. He told me that in the last 7-9 years he hardly ever heard of a USB port on the Hipers going bad, but in the last year they have 8-9 just quit working. So it seems that mine quit working (base & rover) at the same time!

I was never quite so happy to get bad news (that the USB ports were bad) but I hadn't actually killed the Hipers, although I had myself thoroughly convinced I had done them in. He updated the firmware, turned on Cinderella for me, charged me fairly.

Short story, use serial, get a usb/serial converter, at least now you have more cable to play with.

Jeff

I have a Hiper SR. Similar problem. Have receiver, no help, have to vent
started with one xp machine lost serial port access switched to usb
worked for awhile. Started a serial connection on another machine worked fine
for awhile. then started a usb connection on another xp machine
one night I worked for close to an hour before I could connect
went to machine number 2 for serial connect got multiple different
error messages but when I connect to machine 3 all is well
and this is JUST A SHORTED DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEMS WHIT THESE
STATE OF THE ART MACHINE
BTW I also tried a windows 7 machine an gave up in disgust with that exercise
in futility sometime they wory and sometimes they do not I think its a poorly
written driver I could go on for hours about connection problems
no help from vender. This is only a "very" brief description of problem
as Chevy Chase said pass the tylonal
