Anyone know this surveyor from McCoy & Associates #7481? Not a good situation in my opinion to have caps with your LS number on them for sale on ebay, at least not without your consent. Might be a deceased surveyor, but still not right.
I agree 100%. If deceased, the surveyor no longer has control over his/her caps and the potential for someone misusing them is significant. If they're still alive, such an act shows a callous disregard for their stamp and the responsibility vested therein, and would be license-revoking material in my opinion... assuming the caps were not stolen...
The only superior evidence is that which you haven't yet found.
If the markers are from Ohio, the surveyor has been deceased for several years and the company is shown as inactive since 2008.
Looks like they were purchased from here http://www.rmrauctions.com/cgi-bin/mnlist.cgi?rmrauctions8/16
Leland Dillworth PS 7481 worked for McCoy Associates Inc. in Akron, which was at some point a division of KCI Technologies.
Dillworth is still alive. Here is his Linkedin profile. https://www.linkedin.com/in/leland-dillworth-p-s-6198b31b
Hmmm... the plot thickens...

$6?????
Really?
Who the frack would pay $6 for a prestamped cap (2"?) you can't use?
That is silly, I think he's safe, but who knows what someone would pay.........
[SARCASM]Looks like Kindredcowgirl "solved" her property corner problem and is selling off the excess. [/SARCASM]

My post above, about the surveyor, being deceased, is INCORRECT.. I misread the registration number. PS 7461, is deceased, PS 7481 is still shown as active.
Somebody make that phone call yet?

Yes, and if the surveyor is innocent there is still the question of what happens when someone puts his caps on a goat stake and he's accused of malpractice.
I always wanted a McCoy brand aluminum cap! This are the much sought after PS 7481 model!!!
I should start selling my personal stockpile of monuments..
