I came here to ask one question and hopefully someone on this forum will have the answer. I can not give over any information concerning this in fear of someone finding out and making my life miserable.

Where can a private citizen go for survey help if they feel a survey has been altered due to either political connections or cronyism? I need to have, if possible, a face to face meeting so I can explain directly and turn over all the papers concerning my belief of a wrongful conducted survey.

Thanks

I would advise you to start first with the licensing board for land surveyors in your state. They should be able to review your issue and advise you within the limits of their authority and in an impartial manner.

I believe your best route would be to contact your District Attorney's office.

I thought about that, seriously and in most all circumstances, it would be a good route but without saying much, I thought best not to. I'm not saying our DA is anything but legit. Due to the circumstances, I'd rather speak to someone outside my area, far outside my area first before going to him.

Thanks

How do you know it's wrong. A lot of clients think their line is not were it should be. Did a deed get recorded by the map of this so called unethical surveyor . Surveyors are some of the most honest people I know..

Never do like these stories, and I don't know how funded you are. Calling the state board will likely not fix your problem, just get the guy in trouble. Maybe. Then it gets into civil action and lawyers like that, and we all know what else lawyers like$$$.

Talk to your neighbors in an open and honest dialogue, explain your concerns, and ask if they would be willing to help out with hiring another surveyor of their choice. Include their properties as you see fit. Maybe some lot line adjustments are in order? I've been second fiddle before, and saved the world. Better to be the hero than the goat.

Assuming things do turn out ok (maybe the guy knew he goofed up and just fixed it without telling you), you'd at least sleep better.

Oh yea, write him letters. Phone calls don't get it... leave a paper trail. And most of all... Good luck to ya

It also involves neighbors..........can't go that route. I've tried to explain and they think I'm out to screw them out of what they obtained. Wish I could explain more but I just can't.

I'm not saying that but circumstances that govern this situation involves more than the surveyor.

I'm really between a rock and a hard place. I'd sell out and move but I'd lose too much and the property dispute would bleed over into perspective buyers anyway.

I'll figure something out.

Thanks

I would suggest hiring a licensed land surveyor and pouring over your concerns with him or her.

I would say your best bet is to talk to a local surveyor who is familiar with your area. Surveyors are licensed by the state, and I don't know any surveyor who would intentionally do anything unethical on behalf of a client, because it could cost them their license. I've been asked in the past to do unethical things, and the answer is a flat-out "NO", because there is no amount of money someone could pay me to risk my license, business, and the means by which I support my family.

But surveyors are humans who do make mistakes sometimes...

If you live a recording state, get some records from area and see if any of the surveyors are still around and will work for you.

If you live in a platted subdivision, see if the surveyor who did the plat is still around and wants to work for you.

Otherwise, just see if you can get a recommendation from someone you trust.

It's your property, get it surveyed for yourself and see where your lines really are, and hire a guy that will take the time to walk the lines with you, show you the monuments/evidence, and explain it all.

This is an excellent suggestion. Can you give us a location for you so we might be able to point to someone who frequents this board?

Do whatever makes you feel comfortable but it is pretty anonymous here. No one knows anything about you other than "Dilemma". We don't know what town, state, or even what country you are in.

If you posted some specific details maybe someone could figure out who you are but I don't see how you couldn't provide some very vague details to get a better informed answer.

example:

"My neighbors relative is a politician. When he bought this property his relative influenced the surveyor to fudge the property line and gave him some of my acreage. I don't know what to do about it"

Now don't post "I live in section 32 in Jones county and my neighbor Chelea had her dad Bill threaten Joe Smith the surveyor to move our property line 38' west of where it should be"

Sorry but you're wrong. What would happen if the information I wrote on a surveyor's public forum was read by the exact people who I don't want? Ever heard of that old saying "small world". Can't chance it. If you knew, you would understand.

I was given two recommendations. They are what I came here to get. Thanks again.

Only I and I alone can decide my next step.

My county is so small, everybody knows everybody. You have no idea how small, it's unique within itself.

Ok lol. I don't care if your county has 5 people in it if you don't give any specific details no one is going to know.

I give up.

No matter what you do, make extra copies of your information. Lock one up, for you alone. Give one to somebody you trust, and carry one around, to get help. What I am saying is that if everything is as you say, your SINGLE copy could disappear, and then you would have nothing.
