John Olusegun Ogundare has an MS circa 1991 and PhD circa 1995 from the University of New Brunswick. He is currently a Professor in the Mathematics Department at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. I found no information on practical surveying experience for him. I did find him on Rate My Professor, see link.

For a book of that nature I would want to thumb through it for at least an hour before deciding to buy it. If he writes the way he teaches, I would not buy it.

BCIT is my alma mater. I may have to fork it over just because of that.

What is the latest edition of that book? Amazon has the 7th edition from 1998. That's a bit dated.

John Ogundare is one of my old professors, and I agree that I would need to have a good sit down before paying money for it.

John is a absolutely brilliant man, but he operates on the assumption that we all operate on his level.

Now, if Nicholas Wong ever produces a manual on surveying, snap it up in a second. I refer to his survey texts from school, more often than any of my other reference material.

Another example of...

Those that can, do.
Those that can't, teach.
Those that can't teach, write textbooks

Someone put part of one of

;">his lectures up on you tube. I will buy that the audio may be poor, but he does seem to be hard to understand.

However he is apparently a brilliant man from the little I have read about him, so perhaps his book could be good reference material. Just because someone has a thick accent doesn't necessarily mean they can't write.

It looks like this book will not be released till 12 Oct. 2015 from Amazon.
Also I don't think this book will be for the vast majority of surveyors that post here. This is what Amazon has to say about the book:

"This book covers advanced precision surveying techniques, their proper use in engineering and geoscience projects, and their importance
in the detailed analysis and evaluation of surveying projects. The early chapters review the fundamentals of precision surveying: types of surveys: survey observations; standards and specifications; and accuracy assessments for angle, distance and position difference measurement systems.
The book also covers network design and 3-D coordinating systems before discussing specialized topics such as structural and ground
deformation monitoring techniques and analysis, mining surveys, tunneling surveys, and alignment surveys."

All for $145
