What's a plumb bob?

For small nails or lath in soft ground, yes. I carried a 22-ouncer around, which not only helped with that, but also did well in the wind.

Tacks in hubs & spikes in dirt. Yeah that plumb bob is dinged up.

I don't trust a person who claims to be a surveyor who doesn't have a plumb bob. I also don't trust one with a pristine plumb bob. Odds are he doesn't know how to work.
