I'm sure there's a perfectly good explanation. Probably an environmental easement between the two to protect the migratory route of the eastern Ring Tailed Kit snake. Closely related to the western variety that lives mostly in Texas.

Like the kid who's dad told him to add oil to his car; there's a 5 gallon jug in the garage....

Someone told a button pushing, green, party chief to go out and set this corner...

You can't blame the button pusher; someone didn't do any research or he would've known that he'd set this corner at least once before...

There is also a lot to be said for accepting the "3/8 IP". It may not fit your measurement or calculations but Dang, an apparent attempt at a corner monument within 0.04, Unless I had a REALLY good reason otherwise that IP IS the corner.
