Used the laser output from a AGA 76 to align a TV reflector I made, down a canyon to an antenna. Visible light back from the triple prism mounted on the antenna worked good, but needed radios to talk with the person down the canyon wandering about to locate the first pointing so we could make adjustments from a known point, had a high quality mirror in the center of the reflector and the AGA in the line of the best pointing determined from an antenna and portable TV set. The system worked, but not for long, high winds caused a loss of alignment and a new repeater made it unnecessary. Think it was 1974 or 5 that I did that, still have that working AGA 76.

Flagging on the luggage only works if you're not going to a surveyor's convention.

When I fly to the ACSM conventions, it amuses me to see half the bags on the carousel with pink flagging tied to the handle.

Wire flags (with the flag removed) make great witching wires (see previous thread). And yes, it does work for me.

Wire flags also work for jumping a truck. The truck battery died, so I used the total station battery (garden tractor battery) and wire flags to jump it. Got me out of a jam when I was 60 miles away from home.

That reminds me, I used a machete to chop up garden trimmings (instead of a chipper).

Just lay the branches on the ground and chop them up with a machete.

The frogs skin is kind of like silicone and the paper just sticks to it. Of course the hats were on them only momentarily to get the photos.

Don't worry about it. A frog with a party hat on can always take over. Makes me want some Irish cream in my coffee.

We used to get burritos wrapped in foil when we knew we'd be driving a lot (or the engine would be running a lot) and put them on the manifold an hour or two before lunch time.

Hot Air Balloons-Pics!

> Outside using one of my total station to watch the hot air balloons.

I SO miss this! My backyard was in their flight path. I use to sit outside on my patio in Tucson and watch them fly right over me, so close I could wave!! There's something peaceful and calming about watching hot air balloons fly. Here's a few pics I took with my old junky camera. 🙂

Traverse spikes for tree climbing

Stakes under truck tire for traction when stuck on construction site.

Long stakes used as a bat to hit gravel baseball style

Flagging as a headband or to tie pants leg in heavily tick populated areas.

Stakes for sword fights (not me, some kids)

Plumb Bob for the "stick the plumb bob in the ground near your buddy's feet and retreive it with the gammon reel" game.

Flagging to tie a cocky bravado filled braggert of a crew member to a tree because he made a bet that he could get out of it on his own...in reaity he could not and had to buy lunch for the crew, which he did do.

Quick Stake wires to hold down landscaping fabric (bend them in half)

Once a girl braided a bracelet out of some of my plumb bob string

Small gammon reels make pretty good key rings

A fishing fly using a tiny piece of flagging

Safety vests really impress the ladies, to double up the hotness of the safety vest wear it to a night club with black lights and you will be pure AWESOMENESS!

The old Army canned MRE's were good for that.
