I think an old redheaded lady next door to the property we surveyed today put a hex or curse or something on us. She's trying to claim a large portion of the 7 acres our client owns. She came out as we found the last rod. We were friendly and upbeat and spoke kindly to her. That was returned by rudeness and mumbling. After she left I jokingly asked the client and my assistant how many curses they thought she put on us. Fifteen minutes later I had the truck stuck in the mud. My assistant later broke my favorite coffee mug. On the way home the tire we just had put on this morning had a separated belt.... Better than last week though... I got rear ended on my way home from work on my birthday! I'm going to bed! Oh the joys of working for yourself. You get to take all the troubles home.

I shouldn't do this because I have plenty of redheaded relatives, but..............

I'd rather be dead
Than red on the head
Like the d*** of a dog

Dare ya ta use that one on any redheads you know.

It could be worse. You could live next door to the old redheaded nutbar.

Main Street is currently under total reconstrction in front of our home/office.

Wed 04.23 Storm Sewer Contractors broke our water service line (photos & videos are interesting)

Water Contractor Construction crew #1 (Austin & Robert) stayed until 10:30 PM to make sure we had temporary water service, via a garden hose from the neighbor's house (north) through our water meter pit overnight. We very much appreciate those efforts by those two individuals on that crew to stay for our family. Thank you.

Thursday morning 04.24 Water Contractor Construction crew #2 led by Jamie (a man in his late fifties) notified us that a new service line has connected the main to our meter pit, and that our service would be down temporarily. That crew left about 11:00 AM and never told us they were done or anything at all, in fact they tried to coil up my black garden hose to take it away. I told them that it was mine and the green hose with the female to female adapter belongs to Austin. They took it and left.

I assumed they left for lunch. They never returned. Nor did our water service.

I asked Gabe with Dirt Contractors to call Water Contractor (WC) back out. He called Ron with Water Company. Ron called Adam with Water Company out to service our needs at about 3:30 PM.

Adam and I after many trips in and out of the house and basement and crawl space & Lowe’s for a female to female adapter connection to the neighbor's house (south) & after his resistance to have WC return to our house after my repeated urges that he do so, and after no one could or would give me a phone number to WC, I even heard Adam ask Jamie with WC over the phone if his crew had properly flushed the line before they left today (which of course no they did not, I was here the whole time) and Adam even apologized to Jamie for “bothering him” – we ultimately determined that in fact the problem was a lack of proper flushing before the crew left our house today. This was likely due to a possibility of galvanized rust flakes in the line and construction sediment and debris clogging the line.

I was very frustrated with Adam; (1) for not calling Water Contractor back out to properly finish the job, instead of having me do their job for them, and (2) for indicating to me that usually when the water company confirms that there is water service to the meter, that it is the customer’s “problem” at that point in time.

I do however, ultimately appreciate Adam remaining with us on site and tolerating our frustrated vents with understanding. As he was leaving and after I shook his hand and apologized for our rants, I asked him to have his billing department, contact us to let us know how many years we have before we have to start to pay our monthly water bill again.

Currently waiting for that call.
