I am considering a Trimble R6 or an older Topcon robotic for my part time surveying work. Are the older Topcon robotics still reliable? Can you get the Satel radio batteries rebuilt? Can the older robotic instruments still be repaired, if needed? I definitely wouldn't want to get stuck with something that could go soon and no way to repair it. That makes me lean towards the Trimble R6 with a conventional TS setup instead?

I have a Topcon PS, c.2013. I guess that qualifies as "older" insomuch as they have introduced a couple of replacement models since then. The one thing you can say in its favor is that it is reliable.

I do not know about the specific battery you mentioned, but the people at surveybattery.com?ÿwill recell just about anything that's ever been made. I just had them recell a battery for my 20 y.o. Leica digital level. Ask them.?ÿ
