I know quite a few of you here are solo and can dictate your own hours depending on your work load.
Here at our company our field crews work 10 hour days and off friday(depending on work load). There is no doubt about Fridays here at our office - crews at home and survey trucks in the parking lot
Office people work 9 hour days mon- thurs. and 7-11 on Fridays. I really like this setup- about to start my weekend in about hour.:-)
Trucks in parking lot = No billing
We do 4-10s. It cuts down on travel costs. 3 hotel nights instead of 4 plus fewer meals. This week we stayed in a USDA-FS owned building which is located in our State Forest so no hotel bills but we still get meals.
Sometimes I have to go down to the office for a few minutes on Fridays if I got back to late on Thursday. I am usually able to sneak in and out unnoticed.
One of my favorite schedules was 8 days on at 10 hours a day and 6 days off... but its been a while since those days
got to have the work to bill:-)
My favorite schedule is my current one of 4 - 8 hour days! Crew still works 5 when we have the work.
Just need one truck park the wrong way to ruin a perfectly nice picture.
4 x 10 hours is a nice shift for survey crews. They get 3 nights of drinking without having to report to the office 1/2 cut the next day.
We are the same way, however lately we have had 4-5 crews working five 12 hour days and also some saturdays and even a sunday depending on the GC. It has been this way for the past 6 weeks and I hope it stays for awhile. My crews sure enjoy the overtime and I cant complain about the billings.
Not to change the topic, however I see you have several 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton trucks. Any comment on what you prefer? Also which ones seems to last the best?
Hope the work continues for you Matthew!
As far as the trucks, I think true crew prefers the 3/4 ton
Rag, don't know where you are in TX...lots of steel like that in a PLOT, leads to stolen cataltic converters...FOX News this week!!!
