For a lot I'm going to survey, the current deed has a description that matches all of the conveyances going back to 1917.?ÿ Then going back one more deed to 1911, the description changes.?ÿ

The lot bounds on state forest property, which the deed from 1911 follows both the deed and plan description for the state.

Iƒ??m confused by the change in the description, as it looks like itƒ??s trying to add land to the parcel by not jogging back toward the road, creating a more rectangular parcel.?ÿ But you canƒ??t take land from the state, so it doesnƒ??t make a lot of sense.

Also, while the original description doesnƒ??t call for area, when plotted, it closely matches the 1.5 acres that are called for now.

Current & 1917 description:

Beginning at a stake on the Easterly side of the highway, thence?ÿ 68?ø 50' East along of Commonwealth of Massachusetts 245 feet to stone wall; thence Southerly 21?ø 10' West along said stone wall to land formerly owned by Watson, thence Westerly along land formerly of said Watson to Highway first mentioned; thence Northerly along highway to place of beginning.

Containing an estimated 1 1/2 acres of land, more or less.

1911 description:

Beginning at a stake on the Easterly side of the highway: thence S 68 ?ø 50' E along land of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts 245 feet: thence S 21 ?ø 10' W along land of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, seventy five (75) feet: thence North 68 ?ø 50' W along land of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, one hundred and nine (109) feet: thence S 12 ?ø W along land of' the Commonwealth of?ÿ Massachusetts three hundred and eighty six and seventy five one hundredths (386.75) feet: thence Westerly along land of Watson to said highway: thence Northerly on said highway to the place of beginning.

I haven't surveyed the site yet.?ÿ Just met the owner there, and saw the sideline at the road, and line along the back of the property, both blazed and painted by the state.?ÿ I find it odd how the original doesn't mention a stonewall, but now it's called for as a boundary.?ÿ I haven't been back there yet to see if it's there.

Not looking for answers or help - just found it interesting enough to post.
