I thought people were leaving California... Or are you talking about new housing for the homeless?
In Arizona, AZPLS sent a version of this letter, provided by NSPS, to our governor. But then again, with our governor in might not make any difference, he's doing his best to do away with any and all professional registration altogether.
Are courthouses open? ?ÿI just retired but my old company put out a letter saying we are an essential service. ?ÿWe do work on projects that would be considered essential such as hospitals, water works and such but not all our work is related to that. ?ÿIt is a stretch to say surveying is essential but in some cases it is.?ÿ
The Ada County (Boise) courthouse closed briefly, or is still closed. I guess they were letting people mail surveys in and they'd record them and mail the paperwork back. I just laughed, I had no idea germs couldn't live in a cardboard tube...
WHY IS IT IN ALL UPPER CASE LETTERS?
Historic boundaries and conservation efforts.

Shamelessly stolen from another page..... ?ÿ

Essential in Maryland...just like bicycle shops.?ÿ By the time all the industry lobbyists were finished, the only businesses not classified as essential were blacksmiths and cobblers
Don't believe everything you hear.
There are 40 million people in California.
San Francisco has a total of ZERO affordable housing units.
Any word in WA state on land surveying being essential??ÿ I looked through the list and it was not listed.
It's pretty ambiguous, but our organization is interpreting many of our public sector projects as essential under the Public Works section of the executive order. There are a lot of other exemptions that we could fall under, including one for Professional Services:
"Professional services, such as legal or accounting and tax preparation services, when necessary to assist in compliance with legally mandated activities and critical sector services."
Our public works projects (supporting PUDs, county public works, airport mapping) could fall into the "critical sector services".
Most of our construction staking could put our crews in the category of "Construction workers who support the construction, operation, inspection, and maintenance of construction sites and construction projects (including housing construction) for all essential facilities, services and projects included in this document, and for residential construction related to emergency repairs and projects that ensure structural integrity."
We have lots of staking for transportation and utilities projects, and even our private projects technically have a critical services component when we are staking utilities that will ultimately be maintained by public entities.
We are keeping everyone working as much as reasonably possible, keeping crews on projects where they can practice social distancing and well away from populated areas, as well as giving them discretion to halt work when they believe risk is too great. 99% of office staff are working remotely. That might change, but until we get more clarification we are going to continue to work.
