Let me get this straight; a non-surveyor wants to hire someone to locate coordinates that he has absolutely no idea how they were derived to a tolerance that far exceeds State Standards while also telling the surveyor how to do his job because the non-surveyor is more knowledgeable than the said surveyor?
Good luck with that Goofy. I hope you really like the sound of a telephone being slammed down or some big, burly men telling you why your eyes are brown.
We need a prize for the most insulting and just plain ignorant post. Maybe Angel can send this clown a bag of used, but broken plumb bobs.

It's Jimmy Hoffa's corpse

That's my guess and I'm stickin' to it.

You can't spend too much time digging in the end zone of a professional football field without someone getting really upset.

New Handle Same Troll

[msg=221062]Earlier Thread[/msg]

Coincidence? Perhaps. But their styles are remarkably similar. Same circular logic.

Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.

New Handle Same Troll

I don't think it's the same person.
At least the one in the other thread properly punctuated sentences as opposed to this one with little to no punctuation (which drives me bat-s...t crazy).
Just my observation.

Unless the technology is not of this earth, I highly doubt that your "coordinates" are exact. Is it the lost ark, Noah's ark?, Joan of Arc?, Lost Dutchman, Lost in Space?

Not a Troll

I was skeptical, but now think he's on the level, just very cautions about spilling the beans on what he is convinced is a huge discovery, and with insufficient background to understand a surveyor's concerns.

After one of my comments, he sent me a private email, which didn't tell me anything new but promised more information later. I've done a little Google searching and the interests I find associated with his email address don't seem to match anyone I'm familiar with on this site. And I found an interesting query about rocks on another (non-surveying) site that could tie into what he's said here about rocks.

Geologist, anthropologist or other type of scientist would be my guess.

Many of these fine folks enjoy communicating long and large about the very important work that they undertake...while the polite listeners wander off in their happy places.

😉

> a standard gps device, whether costing 150 or 899 or anywhere in between is but a childs toy and can not produce repeatable readings on any exact spot...been there

AND... A state of the art GPS device costing $100,000 operated improperly will give you the exact same results.

i well understand...problem is, i really can supply no other info as to how/where/why/methods/etc...i know we have went to several other sets of supplied coordinates,{supplied like 00.00.000N/00.00.000W every time} all on this same piece of property..at each, i used many methods of getting us to the very near area....excavating was the only way to find exact point, and there was always something there to prove correct beyond any shadow of doubt....i can easily go and locate this spot this thread is about...only problem is that i can not go outside this exact coordinate, which is something i have done at every other location in excavating around to locate the marker always left buried there, 20 ft deep, sitting on bedrock..im not a surveyor...a quick study and very determined maybe but no surveyor...not even a mathmetician...just an old country boy with a decent amount of common sense in working things out...

they are as exact as humanly possible in 1870s...no doubt checked several times for as close to perfection as possible...these were serious people not just go out shoot the lines and call it quits...they would have insured it as much as they could
