Yep, no problem with getting on a network in Shelby. Does this particular contractor use VRS or does he set up his own base, maybe the job is in a hole?

Thad be careful, I build a lot of models and have talked with a lot of contractors in this area and there seems to be some unlicensed individuals offering modeling services to people. Most of these individuals know a little cad work but dont have as much experience with the working end of it. Maybe he has gotten some misinformation from one of these scoundrals.

He uses both base and vrs.

Does a person have to be licensed to provide such services? (I am not asking if they SHOULD be, I am asking if it is actually codified that they must be).
I am not sure how it works here. There are probably some catch all things in the law that could be used to say the person is practicing without a license, but I don't think our code specifically mentions DTM work.

There are places where "GPS" should not be used especially for machine control. The terrain, vegetation, shape of the site ( long skinny r/w thru heavy canopy or wide open cow pasture ), whats the details?

We have built a project in Shelby using machine control with no issues. I wonder if they are using a base and getting stepped on by someone on the same network close by.
A lot of the contractors I have worked with around here have equipment that has been used rough. I have found cables to be a problem, I dont know why but the first thing you here is the GPS aint workin today. No, Its workin fine Mr. Contractor, you need to treat your equipment a little better. Have had this conversation standing beside a receiver with the radio antenna duct taped to the unit.

The contractor hasn't checked the site for GPS. The surveyor is the one who told the contractor.
