This would be an interesting subdivision to survey. If you look closely there is a significant quantity of cash crop growing...I wonder how many of the gardens are over the property line? Not that it matters as it is nearly all owned by a single person.
Anybody care to guess the value shown in this single screen shot? The number used is about $1660/lb x 2 lbs per plant x ??? number of plants.
I figure 7 to 9 million dollars. By the way this is the cheapest land in the entire county.
And, with the federal banking laws such as they are, it's a real "cash" crop.
And who says money doesn't grow on trees. Isn't that your state's No.1 cash crop?
Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.
All of these lots were purchased by the same person, then sold to individuals (all of the same nationality) for $1.
I presume that they are all quasi-employees, where they are put in-charge of a single garden and paid based on the production of that garden.
So in this single subdivision there were approx. 400 gardens with 100 plants each = 40,000 plants x $3320/ea = $133 million+-
This was all grown for personal use and none of that going to maintain roads, bridges, schools, or to support the defense of the country.
The IRS does not seem to mind money laundering, which I find odd.
So I posted this up under surveying, because there are a handful of surveyors that have been as busy as possible surveying these lots, as well as several other subdivisions that are similarly being converted from residential use to commercial agriculture use if you will.
That must be an interesting job, trying to get line of sight between rows of dope. They all pay with fist full of $100 bills I am told.
Now the larger rural parcels (100 acres+) are being bought up all over the county by the same group of people.
Basically if enough people break the law, it overwhelms law enforcement and there is nothing that can be done.
Anarchy !
I own property in a rural California County and I continually receive letters from "investors" wanting to buy it. The county it is in has passed a medical marijuana growing permit process and got something like 995 applications within the first few days. A friend who lives in the area put an ad on Craigslist offering to lease out 5 of his acres and his email blew up. He was offered $50K cash up front for a 1 year lease. Although tempted, he did not lease it out.
It is the Wild, Wild West out here!!!
If I recall correctly, it is the biggest cash crop in Oregon as well. Now that it is legal in Oregon there has been wave of legal grow operations sprouting up. The state is raking it in while the federal government is not getting their cut. The state tax rate is 20% with cities getting 3% if they opt in. For personal use we can grow up to four plants per household. With a commercial permit I'm not sure what the limits are but the product must be tested by state labs. Oregon just had a recall on one farm's crop because of pesticides.
