Is anybody out there using the new VICTOR data collector from JAVAD?
What about their "All in one" dc and GPS, Which has the data collector on it?
Any opinions?
Thanks!
Nate
I was a beta tester and can say it was awful. I plan on doing a full write up of the package soon. I will elaborate more later but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
I'll be interested to read your comments. I'm also interested to know when you were a beta tester. The software has changed rapidly.
Nate it's still developing but has a lot of features no one else is doing. The new base rover setup is complete and is very simple. Export options are very powerful with dwg dxf ASCII and vectors. Automatic verification of fixed solutions works extremely well.
Cogo can work with grid or geodetic values.
Offsets are too complicated right now but are in process of being reworked. Using the compass and camera will allow for quick direct offsets.
The big thing is they are listening to input and making big gains.
I have not used the Victor LS.
I do have a Triumph LS rover and a Triumph 2 base with a 4 watt UHF radio.
While this equipment may not be for everyone, I love mine. There is a learning curve associated with the software, as there is with any new software. If you can put up with the learning curve, the functionality is great. I just completed a 34 acre boundary survey that was completely wooded. I reshot corners today that I shot 2 weeks ago and was within 0.05'. I have not used any other RTK GPS that could have completed this survey.

By the way Javad has a message board for users that you can visit and ask whatever you like.

We have a JAVAD Victor data collector that we use with a JAVAD Triumph 1 system. It is basically a Carlson Mini. We have JAVAD Tracy software and Carlson SurvCE software installed. We are familiar with Carlson and use is almost exclusively and are happy with it. The only thing that the data collector lacks is a keypad.
We are also trying the JAVAD LS & Triumph 2 system. We really like it and are seriously considering purchasing it to replace a couple of our older systems. There are many things that are outside of what I think the "norm" is, but it seems like JAVAD is working with surveyors to create a better/more user friendly system.
Javad is an eccentric with money; a pretty nice to have when you are an eccentric.
Similar to Kraftwerk, he generates a lot of ideas which are then re-packaged by others in a format that the masses can enjoy.
Partnership is best route for this genius. He did it before, he should do it again.
Have you guys noticed that Javad comes out with something new around every 7 years. This was the norm until recently. Now it seems like he comes out with something new every 7 months. I wish he would just get into the robotic game.
I like the LS (all in one). I like the T2 with android app as well. But I like to travel lite; less stuff is better. One of our fellow beta testers has used the victor for a long time and loves it. Send me an email and I will put you in touch with him.
Email Sent. I want to learn all I can.

HiNew Javad Data collector??
Hi Nate, I replied to your email. Letting you know here because it seems I've read here that sometimes email through this site doesn't always work. Let me know how it goes.

Victor data collector..
Victor LS data collector
Very different animals. Very different software.
I'm not interested in the little guy. The LS looks big enough. My eyeballs are not as good as they used to be.
It appears that the LS flavor, will also run UNATTACHED to the GPS. (Bluetoothed to it) That is probably what I need.

Yes. It'll connect via Bluetooth to a Javad receiver. It also has a lot of stuff built in - digital camera, internal compass, WiFi, optional GSM (cellular modem), optional UHF or Spread Spectrum, MicroSD card. The WiFi, GSM and UHF supplies communications to the Triumph2 (which it lacks). This should add up to a very small, lightweight and portable system.
