This is really unbelievable!! With all this modern technology they can not only create streams that are not there, but they can then compute the flood hazard areas!!
Google Earth the site and see if you can find the 2 new streams. Does not show up on my copy.

That area is about 30 minutes from here. The entire Central PA Region is being hit with FEMA rules and regulations. Where I reside, the last few council meetings have been on the changes and what dictates a "new" stream. Seems it is to be the low point of contours constitutes as a place for water to "gather" which could cause flooding. When one of these new areas starts to flood I guess it's time to get a hold of Noah and build an ark.

If you look at the field b/w his fingers in the 1993 google imagery you can see a slight drain in the agriculture field. Plus the google eleveation/contours show about a 6' deep drain in same area.

I bet that the lidar contours are what they are using to determine these flood zones.

I do not see any buildings in the A zone.
Where is the need for flood insurance?

They could always fill... maybe.

You see a lot of these in this region

http://www.hriinc.com/projects/sunbury-river-front.html

You see a lot of these projects happening in this region now. This is the link to a construction company I worked for. We did all of the construction work for this job. Was a fun project to stake out and help the laborers when needed, besides the winter time when the wind would blow and we were setting the R-6 rock in the water and I was the ground man.
