Recently purchased 2 Topcon Hiper Pro units (base/rover) and was trying to convert them to network rovers but am running into a problem. I'm using Carlson (v.4) and I can connect to the network, however it won't stay connected and the receiver appears to be "fighting" with the solution using both GPS and Glonass. What I mean by this is upon looking at the GPS Monitor, I will have 14/19 sats, then all of a sudden that number drops to 8/12, then back to 14/19. It also has a very hard time fixing and stays in float most of the time. I'm trying to use a VRS solution, but have tried many others. Talked w/Carlson and they said they thought it was a firmware issue w/in the receiver. I looked it up a couple of days ago and the receivers are running 3.14 (maybe, can't remember exactly). First off, is this, in fact the latest firmware version, and if not, should it still be able to work? I really don't want to wait another 2 weeks to use these if I can help it (that's how long my dealer is out on repair work now). I've asked around and most say if you don't know what you're doing w/loading firmware send it to a dealer. Anyhow, am I missing something or is this truly as Carlson says a firmware issue. Thanks.
I think you have to have a unit that has the network option enabled. You may have to go to a dealer and pay for that. Steve
As Steve noted. Look at your OAF, Options Authorization File to see if you have NTRIP and other network options enabled. Contact your dealer. Ask them for Open OAF which has every option enabled for testing. Or you can enable all the options for free your self using TRU on Cinderella Tuesdays.

It is NTRIP capable, I did check that, plus if it wasn't it wouldn't even connect to the network, which it does (i.e. the float solution) it just takes forever to get a fix. I tried this before w/a Hiper Lite and it didn't have the OAF (before I knew better) and it wouldn't even connect to the network.
It could be the firmware. I have a Net-G3 receiver that had an old firmware running. I noticed that it would only ever track a maximum of 6 GLONASS satellites. I loaded the most recent firmware that was available and it now tracks them all. So the issue could be that the network you are connected to is sending you data for satellites you are unable to track.
