This is really the perfect stocking stuffer, for that person in your life, that wants to see what they are doing, where they are going, and don't want to buy batteries.
I got one, and it is a real family favorite.

I can't comment on the headlamp, but I have on my desk right now the second Cree LED light bulb with a 10-year warranty that failed after about a year.
IF this headlamp works good for a year, and fries, then you got your $20 worth!
It's worth 20 buks not to hit your head, on a beam! (well, maybe 10 for me, and 20 for you!)

Maybe 30 for Jim. Isn't he healing from a head wound these days? Or was that an old post on another site...?
My head may be harder than Jims, so I only get $10, So I have to hit it twice, to equal once for Jim. Sorry, it was lost in brevity!

I love my headlamp. I use a Black Diamond ReVolt, which is rechargeable. And it is not very bulky. Very nice for hunting, fishing, outdoors, around the house, walking and running... just about everything.
I have had good luck with the Cree bulbs. I have had a headlamp similar to the one above for about 2 years and I have 3 or 4 flashlights that I have owned for up to 4 years and all of them still work. I have also purchased probably 4 or 5 flashlights and given them as gifts and I believe they all still work. Its amazing how bright these things are.
You must just be unlucky Jim.
Natester - Just ordered one, hope it works better than JimÛªs. I going to use it when SWMBO sends me into the attic looking for God knows what during the Holiday season. Now I wonÛªt have to carry a flashlight in one hand while trying to navigate that damn pull down ladder to access the attic one handed!
Thanks for the info.

To clarify, my misfortune with Cree products pertains only to household LED lightbulbs, not battery-powered headlamps.
Jim, it would seem that your misfortunes are NOT limited to bulbs. They include steel post drivers! (How's your head?)
It's raining.

Head is fine, the scar goes well with the bald spot. My foot is healing quickly, I can walk without crutches now, so I'm doing fine. Thanks for asking!
Been using a Brinkman for many years, has white & red light
I'm always looking for a good headlamp to use while camping. It seems that the ones I've purchased around the $20 range end up failing after one season. My buddy bought one for about $55 over 4 years ago. And it is still going.
I'm partial to Petzl headlamps. Dark as all get out in Alaska this time of year. Have several of varying candle power. Good idea I stumbled on is clipping one of those little battery powered LED bike flashers to the back of the band so it's riding on the back of your head for if and when your around traffic in the dark drivers can see you when you're turned away from them.
Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.
Some people call it a day as the sun is setting. They don't need such paraphernalia.

We used Petzl in the military, and I still have one today that I had in Afghanistan in 2010. The only other brand I would consider for lights is surefire, but I'm not entirely certain whether or not they offer headlamps these days. The lights they (surefire) make for mounting on personal defense weapons and rifles are golden though.
I have LED Lenser lights and they are brilliant. Pun or no pun!
I thought they were expensive so bought a $25 headlamp for constant life in the work ute.
But I'm sure LED is far better and one attribute is the way it sits on the head and can be taken off and put on one handed which the cheap one doesn't.
The cheaper one doesn't have a nice even smooth beam spread either.
But I am happy with it for the price it's very good.
You get what you pay for.
Good LED's punch out a lot of light.

I have bought a lot of LED Lenser lights as gifts. Everyone loves them. I have three of their P3 BM lights, one permanently fixed to my sleeping bag, one is in my pocket every day, and another in my night stand. My wife has one in her night stand, and all my brothers or BIL's have them. For the price you cannot beat these little lights, if you are looking for a compact. And it only takes one AAA.
PS I am no way financially tied to LED Lenser (or Leatherman). Well other than I seem to give them lots of my cash in return for their products.
