Got delivered this morning.
I'll bite... what is it?
We've used the Amberg because the Swiss tend to play well together.
Putting my instrument on that in the middle of a RR for the first time would take a chill pill or two to keep me on the ground.
😉
It's a trolley used for rail measurements.
We went with the single trolley system for now, so the robot will be off to the side and either the prism or the GPS unit on the trolley. But I would totally feel the same way if I didn't work for the railroad itself.
HOW DO YOU RIDE THAT THING?????
.
I guess there comes some additional software with the tool?
I will increase speed and or possibilities in the field?
I have seen pictures of it before but never read about it of how it really works.
Chr.
Yes, different collector software and office software totally. It will speed up our workflow for measuring existing track greatly. With one shot we are able to get both rail locations and elevations, centerline location and elevation, cant, and gauge measurements. Our previous workflow was three separate shots and manually measuring the cant and gauge, then recording them in the field book with the centerline point number or later as attributes to the centerline point.
HOW DO YOU RIDE THAT THING?????
I can imagine the reaction of motorists sitting at a crossing while the cross arms come down and you come trotting along the gauge with your yellow toy.
HOW DO YOU RIDE THAT THING?????
I wish, unfortunately as with our hi-rail trucks, it is non-shunting. So it won't set off the signals.
HOW DO YOU RIDE THAT THING?????
🙁 That's like driving a firetruck and not being able to turn on the siren and lights. 🙁
The little boy in us never goes completely away.
:good:
I don't see a motor or engine on that thing. Do you have to push it?
Yes, you push it along the tracks.
