I don't know why it has taken so long for vendors to realize that the few extra bucks for a hat they're giving out will probably be worn only if it looks halfway decent. And compared to most advertising is probably the best vallued walking, talking advertisement they could get for their money.
(I have noticed a lot more vendors handing out quality-looking hats).
