Just talked to him on the phone. Been at least a year, maybe two, since I've talked last with him. Apparently my name came up the other day - "Crazy Eric". He said that's what Mike was wondering about "what ever happened to Crazy Eric". Mike was/is a guy in the TN crew of our company that came down to NC to help me keep the surveying up while Tony (my PC) was on vacation. We were doing a job in some nasty muddy muddy stuff. I told them before they followed me up the mountain "when you see me punch it, do the same and don't lay off the gas!". I never got our truck stuck and neither did the TN crew.
Like they say, you can't make a 2nd 1st impression. Apparently I'm "Crazy Eric" to the TN crew of my first surveying company. Hey, at least I'm remembered!!! I was suprised to hear that.

I really miss working with Tony. He said "we never even got to get drunk together!".

It was just super great to talk to him.

Just thought I'd share that.
E.

Jeez, I've been doing this too long to remember my first point of curvature 🙂 But my first party chief wakes out of his retirement coma every now and then to ask me if I still use the HP48 he gave me, which I do.

I thought this thread was going to be about a Commodore 64.

Need to call mine, haven't talked to him in 20 years. Hardass to the core, and the last guy anybody wanted to work with. He lived to work, defined himself by the job, and had the highest standards for professionalism I've ever encountered.

I've done well for an unlicensed PC and while I've been incredibly lucky sometimes, the fundamentals he drilled into me over 4 years as a two man crew has allowed me to excel when it was placed under my care. I owe him bigtime.

I always figure it's better to make a bad impression than no impression at all.

I'm with Target Locked.

I expected to see something like my old crystal set attached to an old TV set.

Eric, long time no talk! I haven't talked to my first full time PC for a long while, but I had lunch last week with my first PC that got me into surveying. Good times!

It was nice to catch up.
