I also tested the caster again and it works like a charm ! 🙂
Yuriy,
Thanks for the good info.
I have an old Trimble 5700 I would like to hook up as a science project, would I hook the radio output to the rs232 on the desktop?
topconman, you are very welcome, glad you figured it out - good luck !!
David, I am afraid I do not understand "would I hook the radio output to the rs232 on the desktop? ". If you want to connect 5700 to com port of your PC and than transmit whatever it sends via Internet to rovers - yes it is possible. What I described in that short guide is receiver independent, any kind of raw or RTCM data can be transmitted via lefebure NTRIPCaster. When you hook the 5700 to the PC, start the5700 base as you usually do, and setup the caster and that is it.
Its working great when my pc and my data collector are connected to the same wi-fi. In other words it only works over the internet when I am connected to my local ip adress. You know the 192.168.1.xx thing. But when I connect my data collector to my mobile hot spot and try to connect using the actual ip address it never connects? I dont understand why not. I used the ip address shown when i went to www.ipchicken.com
You most likely have a dynamic IP address at your base station. The URL may change daily or on a Hot spot it may change everytime you use it.
Suggest using a dnss lookup service. I use http://www.noip.com/ it cost something like $25 per year.
Or you could purchase a static IP address for much more $$.

Well done you are well on the way! Just need to get it working from other networks now.
Your external ip address will land at your router. You may see a login screen for this depending on how it is setup. The router doesn't know what to do with the incoming connection unless you tell it.
1) Your router needs to forward incoming connections on the port you set up in lefebure (eg 2101) to the computer running lefebure. This needs to be setup on the router. There is a portforward.com website that may be able to help you with your specific router.
2) In order to do this the computer needs to have a fixed internal ip. This can be setup on the router OR on the computer. Again the portforward website may help you.
3) Your external IP address can change very few days so you can get a domain like freedns that will give you a domain name and your computer can run an app to update it.
When it is all setup you can type the domain and port into your browser (do it from a different network) and you should see a "sourcetable" of mountpoints eg like this
http://a6marr.uk.to:2101&apos ;">a6marr.uk.to:2101

there is probably a RS232 outpuy on the 5700 so this is what you want to connect to the computer.
If not then you will need something like a lemo to RS232 cable.
did you find Virtual Server tab in you wifi router settings ?. I do not know what else hat else could be a problem. My friend connected to my caster from different IS provider with no problems. if you have android device try their lefebure ntrip client and see if you can connect.

5700 port that connects to PackCrest radio should be connected to PC and it should work, than start base as usual. 5700 to packcrest radio cable is needed (elongated one 🙂 or bt parani to pc serial communication.
have to see if download cable works for that, 5700-> PackCrest has different connectors.

Thanks, I'll look through my collection of cables.
5700 has 1 USB port, 1 RF Antenna port, and 3 serial ports ports (lemo connectors). Download cable will be too short to join PC (which is located inside office) with the base somewhere on the roof on in the yard. I would plug download cable into one of the 5700 lemo ports, than I would plug DB9 end of the cable into parani serial to bluetooth adapter and I would run NTRIPCaster on a PC with bluetooth module ( internal or external ). ... on the second quess if you have long antenna cable 5700 may lay down beside you PC 🙂
topconman could you pleas printsreen virtual server page and paste it here?
If you do not have routher with this option it it is worth getting one like for 100$ used one for 20-30$ will do. I am not sure if port forwarding is good enough. you have to join together external IP with the local IP of the PC where Caster is running, and one way way to do this is trrough virtual server as i described.
borrow a router from a buddy for a day or so, it is really worth trying.
good luck 😉
lefebure NTRIPCaster broadcasts only on port 5000.

I was going to put the Zepher antenna outside and 5700 in the office near PC.
