OK, since we come from all over, I thought it would be neat to have one thread where we could see the MTS of the states. What got me thinking of this was visiting the site of a surveyor and seeing a plat that would never pass MTS here, but obviously they have different laws. So here I will start. I am posting both Alabama and Georgia, follow with your MTS.

Virginia Regs.

We have a little bit in the library standards, but I don't have a link for that right now. I think it's mostly about text size on plats though.

I find it strange that our State Society has to host this document. The State Surveyor's Office does not even have a web page. But they do let the GIS guys post our plats on the internet.

Georgia MTS

In addition to the Plat Act, surveyors in Georgia must also follow the Technical Standards for Surveys as laid out in the Board Rule 180.

By contract between client and licensed professional. Rules of professional responsibility are regulated but no technical directives.

Here is a link to "The General Rules of Procedures and Practices", which were produced by the Board from the Professional Land Surveying Practices Act. The Board has the authority to adapt the Rules to their "finished" state.
