In the latest POB eNews, it was reported that:
"Javad Ashjaee, founder of Javad GNSS Inc., insists that LightSquared offers tremendous benefits to the surveying and mapping community. At the Nov. 9 PNT advisory board meeting in Alexandria, Va., Ashjaee will present technical details and test results that he said proves the current plan of LightSquared can coexist with GPS."
Sounds like self-serving BS to me!
Seems that he is out for his own business good only and really doesn't care about resolving the issue as it affects all of us with existing GPS units.
I don't doubt that lightsquared and GPS can live together and even be robust. But will I be able to do it without sending a check to Javad? I have GPS equipment that is paid for (licensing fees notwithstanding). I don't need to pay through the nose because someone is re-purposing the satellite spectrum for terrestrial applications.
Wow, that is one giant cup of cool-aid...
Mr Fleming, thank you for posting that link
please watch your email for a wee note from me. BC
I got $10 that says Javad pattented the solution, and stands to make a fortune off this, too.
I would bet more than $10 on that one.
Do not get too excited.
Until the upper band is taken off the table, any proposed fix only serves to get the waiver approved and nothing else. Stopgap at best. Just long enough for LS to go IPO and cash in leaving us holding the bag.
