Leica upgrade?

Could use some help on this one. Thanks in advance.

I currently use Leica, and and I want to stick with it.

I have a System 1200, GPS only; RX1250, ATX1230, and TCRA-1200 total station; they switch great.

I would like to upgrade to GNSS though, and my antenna won't do it.

My RX1250 could use a replacement too.

Question 1:
Should I upgrade to the new VIVA system? Is there enough productivity in it to justify its upgrade cost?

OR: Should I opt for a good used RX1250 and ATX1230 GG?

Question 2:

Everything I've seen on the internet is pretty pricey. Is there a decent place to buy this stuff without a lot of haggling?

keep me in mind for your rx1250 when you do something.

edit: nevermind, sounds like you want to replace the one you've got.

Well, it works, but the touchscreen is out of it.

hello wfwenzel,

we recently had an RX1250 touchscreen replaced for $400 here in australia. worth the money i thought.

our viva TPS is only barely more productive than our 1200, if at all. if it is, it would only be down to the hugely increased speed from the viva CS15 controller when searching through the points and codelist databases, and getting around the map screen.

if you really want a good price on a viva i'd ring around the dealers and try and get a demo unit. also ring around competitors and see if any have trade-in viva units for sale. should be cheaper again than the demo units.

Still be interested; never found the touch screen useful in the rain.

Well, it works except for that, and to tell the truth, the touchscreen is a minor PITA.
