What is the difference between these USB data cables please?

Is the GEV189 the older initial model maybe?

Seems the GEV267 is newer?

I bought both from Amazon and BOTH have newer Windows 10 drivers included, so figure will work ok.

Would either be fine for use with a Leica TCRA1103 Plus??ÿ Or anything special about the different models?

Thank you for the help!

Also, is this Leica Instrument Tools used to install firmware and programs?

Can I download them under the Software tab of Leica MyWorld and "just" install them??ÿ Or are keys (licenses) required also?

Thank you.

@timd1971?ÿ Why not just load the firmware on a PC card and install from the instrument keyboard??ÿ?ÿ

Leica GeoOffice will interface and not sure a license is necessary for uploading firmware but is required to process data.?ÿ We always used the PC card.?ÿ Let me know if the cables you purchased work.

Thank you.?ÿ I did read about that card option being easier.?ÿ Do you know if the PROGRAMS can be done this way also? But will they not work if KEY not available for each?

I guess I do not understand the process of getting the PROGRAMS if they are free to use or if a license is required for each different one or what??ÿ Or does the instrument just come with them all to use or as extras?

Not sure where to get Leica Office also?

Thanks!

@timd1971 put a PC Card in the instrument and format same.?ÿ I recall it will create the directories.?ÿ One of the directories/subdirectories is the APPL - copy any applications in that directory.?ÿ You can load programs but will need a KEY to use some of them.

Not sure what directory for firmware but if you get a manual, it will guide you.

You do not need GeoOffice to do any of the above.

Loading via the PC card is the way to go.?ÿ I do not remember ever loading trough the PC when I ran the 1100 series instruments.?ÿ As for the key, I think they load onto the instruments ROM (at least somewhere that it is not affected by reformatting).?ÿ The key unlocks purchased applications as well as CCP dates.?ÿ If you added an application or extended your CCP they would send you a new key.?ÿ You can also manually input the license info into the instrument.

@timd1971?ÿ

User Manual TPS1100:

https://www.gefos-leica.cz/ftp/Totalni_stanice/Navody/TPS1100/ENGLISH/System_UserManual_en.pdf

see page 128, "Standard programs" are free to use after loading to instrument. "Survey programs" need a license key, look at myworld.leica up right corner?ÿ and open *.key file with text editor to see what is licensed for your instrument and maybe just install these programms. Maybe other progamms can be started up to 10-20 times...
