Anyone do this or have good advice to do so??ÿ More particularly the process of keeping the battery energized while doing the battery swap so the firmware/EDM settings do not get lost.?ÿ I'd hate for the battery to die soon being so old.?ÿ Yes, I know...?ÿ very very very risky and critical.?ÿ But hear it's not as bad as the old Trimble 5600 Series and Geodimeters.
Thank you!

interesting - why don't you just do a backup of system settings and then reload if necessary?
also, looks like the battery is soldered in and easy task to do- what is the voltage/amp of the battery?
@hpalmer?ÿ
That is an option "if" you have the tech software or the means to do that.?ÿ It's the EDM settings and software KEYS embedded that is the critical problem if the battery dies.?ÿ I have the EDM settings inside the battery compartment, but no idea how to get them inputted back in after loading firmware, software etc. (not sure if lose EDM settings)?ÿ Some instrument loaded software such as TDS-PRO impossible to find also, even though I have the KEY.
Apparently, Leica techs won't touch these classic great instruments anymore for good reason...?ÿ they couldn't sell as many of the newer models if they kept these greats alive.?ÿ Quite amazing for how old this technology is, yet is still the CORE of the newer models.?ÿ I don't use these for "survey" work.?ÿ I've contacted a couple people that may be able to help, but not quite sure I want to ship things outside the USA this way.

Please make sure to keep us updated.?ÿ I have one that needs this done soon.
@timd1971 You can still download keys for the 1100 from Leica Myworld if you lose same.?ÿ Not sure about any keys for Datapro which was a nice compact data collection program.
Just got our TCRA 1103?ÿ back off the shelf and went through a few routines.?ÿ Good hardware and optics.
Does not get used much and is a backup.?ÿ It has geocom and I should be able to use Carlson RT3 and survpc for backup data collector.?ÿ We have the RCS1100 with a TCPS26 modem.
Just found the settings you were talking about in the battery compartment.?ÿ Ours are on the top and appear to be the settings (A thru S) from the factory.?ÿ Since you can calibrate the instrument, not sure why you would need those settings.
