We got our 3 sec. TS 12 with an Allegro DC (GPS module on) for 27k. That included the higher accuracy grz122 prism and a seco 8.5' pole. I didn't like the wimpy leica pole that came with the package.

How much does leica charge annually so that you can get the latest firmware updates for the robot and for the data collector?

I bought a 1203tcrp in 2006. Not a minutes trouble ever. I have not updated firmware but was told by a leica dealer that using a third party data collector and software (allegro CX with carlson survce), the firmware update in the gun is irrevelant. I have had 2 topcon total stations which I liked, but the leica robot is the absolute best instrument I have ever bought. I dont use it as much since the rtk revolution, but it is awesome!

We use surv ce, and the updates r free. I'm not sure, but I think when we take the instrument to be calibrated and cleaned they will update software/firmware for no additional charge. It's not like Trimble with their annual fee you have to pay for them to fix their bugs. That seems rediculous to me.

I think its about $650/year for the basic CCP. Which gives you the upgrades for firmware for the collector. It might be the same for the robot as well, however if you are just looking at the TS12 you probably wont ever need it. They arent doing much firmware writing these days for the 1200 and TS12 (by the way, the TS12 is pretty much as 1200 re-branded).

Only if you are looking at getting a TS15 would I recommend getting the CCP for the robot.
