Does anyone know of a hardsided backpack case for a Leica Robot. I have the Trimble s6 style cases in mind.

You might try Leica they just brought back their excellent vertical case, but only for their new scanner/total station. You might check, it may fit other instruments and probably cost a mint. I had an instrument in the same case roll down a hill, bouncing on the way down, and land in a stream, no damage to the gun, it didn't even need adjustment.

The vertical hard cases were only available on the older "Wild" instruments and the new "Nova" Scanning Robot. The backpack straps that Norman pointed out are the only other option out there.

Personally I like the new large, Seco Rucksack. It is a little bit on the expensive side but it is smaller than the Robotic bags, has a lot of padding and is easy to carry. Check them out too.

I have used the soft cases but I routinely use a ATV to transport equipment from truck to setup. I want to build a rack to hold a case tightly for the bumps etc A softcase will not work for this. Also I used to use the s6 case as something like a mobile desk/chair when making notes in the field. I am thinking about trying to retrofit a Trimble case or build one from 1/4" plywood with backpack straps and then put the seco softcase inside of it.

If the case is held rigid then the instrument inside the case absorbs more of the bumps. Perhaps a wooden box, lined with foam, etc. and affixed to your 4 wheeler, which you put the Leica case inside?
