Hello All,
I am contemplating equipment and software purchase. Does anyone have experience creating a workflow between a Leica TS12 robotic total station and Javad Triumph 1 GNSS receivers? I want to be able to use one data collector, perhaps a Leica, and start a survey with the TS12 switch to RTK with the Javad Triumph base and rover and go back to the total station to finish the survey. The FieldGenius web site says it can operate both sets of equipment.

Has anyone used MicroSurvey’s FieldGenius, on a Leica data collector, to control Javad GNSS and a Leica robotic? Can you offer advice? Thanks in advance.
Rich

I wish somebody would compile an up to date compatibility list.

One thing to watch for is that xxx data collector SAYS it works with XXX instrument, BUT they don't tell you that NOT ALL FUNCTIONS are available.

From my research and reading, Carlson SurvCE works great with both. Don't quote me on it but it might be worth a look for you.

You can run SurvCE on a Leica CS15 or CS 10. There is a specific option you need in the data collector to connect to the robotic total station. I also believe you need the SmartWorx LT version installed on the data collector as well.

While maybe it shouldn't be that way in a perfect world, your best solution is usually to buy all one brand of whatever you want, still not perfect, BUT when things don't work you only have one vendor to deal with. Since MicroSurvey is now a part of the same ownership as Leica one would hope that would at least work with Leica products very well and only improve in the future. The Leica GNSS equipment works very well so not sure what the advantage would be in mixing and matching another brand with your TS.

We used a Carlson Surveyor Plus data collector, it will work on our Leica 1200 GPS units, the Javad GPS, and Topcon total stations, and depth sounders.

Hi Rich,

I have had success using a CS15 with both the Leica Viva Total Station, and a Javad Triumph-1 GPS. Both Field Genius and SurvCE work (neither as efficient as the smarworx - for robotic work). You will need to activate the 'Extended GeoCOM' on the robot for FG or SurvCE to communicate with the instrument though - $1000 rip off here in Australia, but free from you dealer in the US i believe.

My opinion is that both the Leica TS/Controller, and Javad GPS are both very good hardware options. Maybe demo both the FG and SurvCE and see which one works best for you and your office software.

Dan

Extended Geocom is only needed for SurvCE. Since MicroSurvey is now Leica/Hexagon owned it is no longer needed for FieldGenius. It is 100 percent functional.
