It is my understanding the Leica GS14 GPS can only be operated with a Leica data collector. Does anyone have info on how to get the GS14 to run on non-Leica DC's?
Thanks
At this time that is correct. Something dealing with the Bluetooth PAN. We are testing various other data collectors with Carlson and MicroSurvey to see if we can find some way around this.
Muchas Gracias

I. Ben Havin,
There are some of the MicroSurvey data collectors that work with the GS14 or the GS15 or the GS10 receivers. We did see this working with our MicroSurvey regional representative. The one that we were interested in was the tablet they have as their ALGIZ 7. It was running a full version of their data collection package and connected via bluetooth to the GS14. I was not aware that they had worked out the BT PAN connection until I saw it working. I would have to verify that this is working on their other units. The tablet is a ruggedized PC running Windows 7 so it would be a little different for devices running Windows CE or Windows Mobile. The tablet with a battery on the pole felt very nice for weight and balance. It was really nice to have a very large screen also.

Same board, different housing. It should be released in the US any day now. When released, it should work with several Carlson and Microsurvey controllers.
SurvCE/SurvPC 3.0 supports the GS14.
Any idea if data collector support is open rather than proprietary?
Correct, but with most everything colored green, you can only run the green stuff using Carlson SurvCE when SurvCE is installed on the Leica DC, and are then running SurvCE on that Leica DC...at least that is my experience with the 1230GG all-on-the-pole.
