Hi there guys I'm new here and would like to know if someone can help me.

I bought a new Trancend Compact Flash Card 133x 4GB for my Leica GPS 1200 and would like to know if someone can help me set it up on my GPS.

Ive formatted the card in FAT format and Ive also copied over all the files needed from my old Card.

As I insert the card into my GPS it says INFORMATION 1981 " No connection" check battery or local RX menu with F2 and then the screen goes off.

Thanks you for any help.

Raun,

I'm guessing that the card is to large. When the 1200s came out 1GB was big and I think Leica sold it with a 2MB card. I use Leica 32MB cards as well as Sandisk 2GB cards with my system. I sometimes wounder if the 2GB is a mistake.

One thing does cross my mind though. Did you (or are you able to) format the card on the instrument?

Good luck.

Hi there John thanks for your reply.
No It doesn't want to format with the 1200 because I know that if you put the card in the 1200 it would be able to ask you to format and then it will put the file structures on the card. I think exactly the same as you that the card is too big.

Thank you.

Based on initial scan of the technical data, the 4 gig card is too big. It lists 64MB, 256MB, 1GB as the card ranges. I'm not sure which model you have, bt looks like the culprit.

See page 8.

Hope that helps.

Ruan,

The maximum Compactflash Card for the unit is 1gb. Most users actually used a smaller card and specifically sold through Leica Geosystems. That being said, I haven't had much of an issue using other brand cards, but anything over 1gb will almost always fail.
