Hello everyone,

Almost all of my education on GNSS has come from the internet and the field. I have found a lot of good sites and information. Most of the information is 10 years old. Are there any newer books like Jan Van Sickleƒ??s ƒ??GPS for Land Surveyorsƒ?? 4th Edition? This is a very good book!

Technology is always changing is this industry.?ÿ

Are there any other recommended books out there published or updated recently? I would like to add newer publications to my library.?ÿ

Thanks,?ÿ

Dan

How GNSS works and one uses it hasn't changed much. The fundamentals are still sound. The changes are primarily from the introduction of new constellations and more variety "after the solution" in the data collector due to improved computing capacity.

Older volumes may not address RTN in depth. A local provider is probably the best source of information about their system.

My surveying mantra is the KISS principle.

  • For important control: 4.5 hr. redundant occupations and LS adjustment.
  • For internal project control, 1/2 to 1-hour occupations; adjustment depends on the project
  • For less critical internal control. RTK control point procedures
  • For topo, RTK point to point and continuous

Office treatment will vary with the project.
JAC

Older volumes may not address RTN in depth.

ODOT/OSU put out a very good in-depth study + guidance manual just last year:

UPDATED SURVEY STANDARDS AND CONTROL GUIDANCE FOR IMPROVED OPERATIONS

It's a long document but a very worthwhile read.
