So I'm out looking for a Conc. R/W marker, set in 1963. There it is in plain sight, it looks in good shape, but it has a clump of moss/lichen on it so I go to kick it off with my heel.
Bad move.

the moss is circled in red.
I'm thinking that between the board touching the back and the moss, it changed the way this particular mon. weathered, causing it to be crumbly. or maybe I AM MR. NORRIS. 😉
4 other mon.s in the vic. were all in really good shape.
btw this was set as the E 16th between 7 and 18 ... at 1320 feet from the SE section corner. it's 3.5 feet from a RR Tie fence corner set in 1949 purportedly at the 1/16 position. Both are 16' +/- South of where the calculated position would be.. but that's another post.
Here's a pic of the SE sec. corner.
Since you feel you disturbed the monument , check for the real location based on deed/plat. If it's close then hold whats left of the monument and move on. Always note the current condition if situations like this. Note the facts Chuck...errr...Mr. Norris. 🙂
I think I see a large cat print in the snow there; couldn't be a bear, though, could it?
Well, possibly, given the number of toes and the split pad And other readily discernible characteristics.
(O.K., Don, let it go.)
Good shots, Rankin:-)

Ah....Mr. File you have passed your first test in your Chuck Morris training. From now on you will have to use the official Chuck Morris toilet paper during the rest of your training.
